The story of the legendary flamenco singer known as Camarón de la Isla is divided into three clearly distinguished periods in this film. The first period goes from his birth until he is twenty - his modest childhood, in a poor gypsy family, where his art begins to show through. The second period covers the decade of his twenties and his confirmation as a young artist - his performances in the flamenco cafés, known as 'tablaos', the recording of his first records with Paco de Lucía and his marriage to the young gypsy, Dolores "La Chispa". The third period shows chiaroscuros. His success continues, with both national and international recognition, the recordings that revolutionize the interpretation of flamenco. Simultaneously, drugs seriously take their toll on his health.
