FRESHLATINO 2
round table discussion
In line with the exhibition FRESHLATINO, Instituto Cervantes Dublin opens a series of talks about contemporary architectural creation. Pilar Echezarreta from Mexico and Tim Redfern from Ireland will take part in this second session.
Pilar Echezarreta was born in Spain and raised in Mexico City. She graduated from the School of Architecture in Mexico City and was offered a fellowship in Decorative Arts by the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. She holds a Masters degree in Architecture from Columbia University, New York. She has exhibited her work on inflatable architecture, video and installation in Mexico, Spain and Paris, including the "Fonds Régional d’Art Contemporain Ile-de-France" and the "Carrousel du Louvre". More recent works were featured in the touring exhibition "Freshlatino", and "Golden Pearl" (solo exhibition presented last January 2010 at the Museo Experimental El Eco, Mexico City). She has collaborated in various architectural offices from Mexico City, Paris, New York to Shanghai. She held the position of Assistant Professor at the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Design in the post-professional degree programme, and was named runner-up in Europan 8 [2006] with a project aiming to inject new inspiration into architecture through an urban species system of 400 inhabitation dwelling styles.
Tim Redfern is a designer and artist from Dublin who works with electronics & software. Presently pursuing a PhD in locative media at TCD, he is interested in the 'herzian space' of electronic data that surrounds and augments today's built environment. Tim was part of the team behind the /Playhouse/ project, who recently turned Liberty Hall, possibly Dublin's most iconic building, into a multi-purpose interactive display with sound. Tim will also talk about 'Make a bigger splash!', an animated neon lighting installation which has recently been commisioned by Mayo county council.
