Whisky, Romeo, Zulu
film screening
Directed by and starring Enrique Piñeyro, actor, doctor and ex-pilot for LAPA, Whisky Romeo Zulu brings the story of the accident involving flight LAPA 3142 to the big screen. The film tells the fictional tale of the background of the accident from the point of view of Piñeyro himself who really was a LAPA pilot between 1988 and 1999 and who resigned from his post in June 1999 – only a few months before the accident – after having declared his opposition to the companies’ safety policies. The film’s name refers to the registration name of the ill-fated airplane LV-WRZ, which in the aeronautical alphabet reads “Whiskey, Romeo, Zulu", because of the last three letters of the same.
