Mario Vargas Llosa (born March 28, 1936) is a Peruvian writer, politician, journalist, essayist, and Nobel Prize laureate. He has awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in Literature "for his cartography of structures of power and his trenchant images of the individual's resistance, revolt, and defeat".
Annette Flynn (University College Dublin), will introduce the film. Annette Flynn is a lecturer in Spanish and Portuguese at the UCD School of Languages and Literatures, specialising in Spanish American and Luso-Brazilian literatures and cultures. Her latest books include a monograph on Jorge Luis Borges entitled normal">The Quest for God in the Work of Borges (2009), and a co-authored dictionary of gastronomy in five languages (2010)
