Carol, the teenage daughter of a Spanish mother and a North American father, travels to Spain for the first time in 1938. While she is waiting for the return of her father, a pilot in the International Brigade, Carol finds friendship and love, forging her future in a land which, for her, is as unknown as it is convulsed.
