The library at Instituto Cervantes in Dublin opened to the public in 1995. It inherited its books from the previous Spanish Cultural Institute that had historically been sustained with donations from different public institutions. Since then, Instituto Cervantes has initiated an acquisition policy in order to up-date the collection and adapt it to the needs of its users. The library forms part of a wider information service on Spain's and  Latin America's language and culture.
